The two surf events at the Port Alfred Easter Fest The two surf events at the Port Alfred Easter Festival delivered across the board, with plenty happening in terms of winners, results, prizes and standout performances. Alongside the division titles, trophies and accolades, the extra awards carried serious weight and made up a big part of the prizegiving sessions across the three functions. At the Rip Curl GromSearch presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel, the Expression Session put the spotlight on surfers pushing limits and going all-in. Cash went to Max Kauffman, Emma Schermbrucker, Kai Stubbs and Sebastian Copson for their commitment. Cody Painter was a clear standout through the early rounds and walked away with the Outstanding Surfer Award, earning a custom Channel Islands Surfboard valued at R13k. Leah Lepront and Carl Wiersma took out the Premier U16 Division, but more importantly locked in the big prize. Both surfers secured berths into the Rip Curl GromSearch International Final, along with R20k travel vouchers to get there. The Royal Alfred Marina Expression Session ran in heavy surf on the final day of the Royal St Andrews Hotel Rip Curl Cup. With R10k on the line, Clay Turrell and Luc Lepront each claimed R5k for committed, high-risk surfing. When it all wrapped up at the Royal St Andrews Hotel Rip Curl Cup, the WSL Africa Regional Challenger Series qualifiers were confirmed off the back of their results. Louise Lepront, Sarah Baum, Connor Slijpen, Beyrick De Vries, Teva Bouchgua and Adin Masencamp are heading to the next level. Strong showing all round, from division winners to those pushing the limits when it counted.
