The Four Elements Festival returns to Wharf Street in Port Alfred on 04 April 2026, bringing a full day of entertainment, competition, local vendors and community energy at the Port Alfred Easter Festival. From early morning markets to live music at sunset, the programme will keep moving and the street will fill quickly.
The Beer Race That Defines The Four Elements Festival
One of the headline attractions is the ever-popular Wife-Carrying Race. The winning couple will take home the wife’s weight in beer, which always draws a lively crowd. This year adds extra incentive. If the winning pair represents a sports club, business or community organisation, their team will also receive an additional 50 litres of beer from Kraft Alchemy Brewery. Entries are limited to 25 couples, and early registration at the brewery is essential.
Morning Momentum on Wharf Street
The festival will begin at 08h00 with a bustling Craft Market lining Wharf Street. Visitors will browse local vendors, enjoy food specials and settle into the atmosphere as the day builds. Morning highlights will include the Car Show, TyreMart displays and a Tiger Moths flyover, weather permitting. Live bands and a festival photo booth will keep the energy steady before midday. Families will enjoy the Bunny Rabbit and Easter Egg Hunt, while Kraft beers will flow at the brewery throughout the day.
Competition and New Events at
As the afternoon gathers pace, competition will take centre stage. The Potjie Cook-Off and Beer Packaging Design competition will showcase local creativity and pride. The Wife-Carrying Race will deliver pace, cheers and bragging rights. The brand-new Wheelbarrow Race, proudly sponsored by Port Alfred’s local hardware stores, will add fresh energy to the programme. Entries will be handled at the Little Brewery and are limited to 25 teams.
Boats, Bands and Big Energy
Afternoon highlights will also include a live Painting Demo, Boat Rides and the popular Discount Dice Roll. Live bands will return to carry the festival atmosphere into the evening.
